How does the Argentine government's Universal Pension Program for Senior Citizens work?

With this benefit, seniors in Argentina have the right to an income that helps them support themselves. 

The amount paid is equivalent to 80% of a minimum pension, updated quarterly by the Mobility Law.

In addition to being free, the application process is semi-presential. There are some rules that the potential beneficiary must comply with.

First, you must be over 65 years old and have resided in Argentina for at least 10 years.

In the case of foreigners, the term increases to 20 years. See below for other requirements needed to join the Universal Pension Program for Older Adults.

• Keep personal and family data updated on the portal My ANSES;
• Be Argentine or naturalized with at least 10 years of residence in the country;
• Maintain residence in the country after applying for the pension (if you change country, you may lose the benefit);
• Not receiving or having the right to any retirement or pension from a national organization, provincial or municipal funds, institutes, or unemployment insurance.

If the applicant receives a pension or pension, he or she must retire to apply for the universal pension for older adults.

How to participate?

First, log in to your Minha ANSES profile using your social security code and check that your data is up to date.

If you don't have the code,get it online. It will be of great help when asking questions and the procedure.

Data can be updated in the Virtual Service, under the “Advice and Queries” tab.

If everything is correct, click on the “Virtual Service” tab. Then click on start withdrawal/PUAM to proceed with the request.

The procedure can also be carried out in person at an agency authorized by ANSES.

However, it is necessary to book the online service on the portal of the ANSES.
